TraceX marks a strong start in 2025 with over 1.2 million RECs traded

TraceX, Powerledger’s REC marketplace, marked a key milestone in its growth trajectory by facilitating trades for over 1.2 million Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) in January 2025. Known for leveraging technology to automate manual and cumbersome processes in OTC REC trading, TraceX continues to positively change how businesses with sustainability goals, generators, and brokers engage with the environmental commodities market.

TraceX is integrated with one of the largest voluntary registries in North America, M-RETS. Users can link their M-RETS account to the TraceX marketplace and import RECs. Once linked, buyers can receive RECs from purchases while sellers can import RECs and list them for sale. TraceX plans to expand its regional coverage to other prominent registries like ERCOT and NAR in the near term.

With secure on-platform payments and streamlined KYC, contracting, and reporting, TraceX adds much- needed resource efficiency in REC trading for renewable energy generators, corporate REC buyers and brokers alike.

Companies can streamline REC procurement with customizable filters, detailed attribute data, and custodied holdings. On-demand retirement enables seamless sustainability alignment—no registry account required.

Transparency is at the core of the TraceX marketplace. All buyers and sellers can leverage real-time REC price discovery and access to enhanced REC attribute data for all RECs listed on the marketplace.

Unlike the traditional REC market, TraceX provides fast onboarding- allowing users to complete and submit their application in just 30 minutes. Our customers have also experienced up to 72% savings on administrative costs after using TraceX.
